I've got Notes 7.02 HF534 installed on this new Lenovo X61 Tablet PC (with Vista). As I always do first thing is enable "Right double-click closes window." I then exit and restart Notes.

But, it doesn't work.

Same problem on my new T60p.

Not that I think the hardware would have anything to do with it. It's working everywhere else.

This is a major productivity drop for me.

Any ideas?

I need help: Missing right double-click in Notes

Since you do one click any how when you 'right-click anywhere to close window'... What if you add the 'Exit' icon to your 'Universal Toolbar', make it the first icon. Now all you have to do is click on the icon once... and your Lotus Notes application closes.

re: I need help: Missing right double-click in Notes

Thanks, Ed. that would work; however, it's not nearly as productive as a double-right click. Since my hand's already on the mouse, it's more efficient for me to simply tap my finger rather than navigate to the toolbar to click on the button.

re: I need help: Missing right double-click in Notes

I have no idea how, but this problem seems to have fixed itself across several machines. Odd, since this is a setting that is local to a given Notes install.

I think Adam Gartenberg and Alan Lepofsky had something to do with this. I think it's a customer support conspiracy on their part to please me by quietly fixing the problem and then pushing it down to my machine.

In any case, it now works and I'm happy.

Thanks guys.

I need help: Missing right double-click in Notes

Setting the preference, as you noticed, requires a client restart. We write the data out to the preferences line in the notes.ini. One possibility is that Vista user access control was preventing the setting from getting written out. Anyhow, glad to see it's working now.

re: I need help: Missing right double-click in Notes

Scott, that seems like a plausible explanation, however only one of the machines is a Vista machine and, for reasons unexplained, it started working on BOTH my Tablet PC (Vista) and my main computer (XP Pro SP2). Strange, as I though the double-right-click setting was a local setting and not something that replicated.

In any case, I'm a happy camper. Thanks.

Do you roam?

re: I need help: Missing right double-click in Notes

Yes, Scott, I use roaming. Perhaps this setting got stuck somewhere in the roaming process? Seems plausible if it is a setting that is included in roaming.

I need help: Missing right double-click in Notes

The entire "preference=" line does roam, so yep, seems like that got stuck or perhaps an old one roamed and didn't kick in until you rebooted Notes more than once.
