We're spending the week, getting to know one another and geeking around with technology as I give him the high-level overview of the systems that I designed for David Allen and how they work. I'm introducing him to our GTD collaboration suite, including Notes, SameTime, ActiveWords, MindManager, and so on. We're also playing in the lab. And, we get paid for it. [David, Robert, if you're reading this, Paul thinks he's playing but this is all serious hard knowledge work, he just doesn't know it yet. I've not given him a single break; and we are very focused. ;-) ]
Paul's a nice guy with a variety of similar interests from aviation to emergency preparedness to technology. Paul recently launched his own blog where he shares a little about his experience joining The David Allen Company. (Be sure to read Paul's post on printer sensitivity training.)
I'm excited about this transition- both to move out of the Dir. of Technology role, and to have the challenge of documenting and transferring knowledge in this way. Given my interest in the field of KM, it's exciting to have a mission critical project to apply myself to. Once I've passed the baton to Paul, it will free me up to pursue several new projects, both at DavidCo and with eProductivity.
Well, it's time to get back to work.
